It has been a while since the last pictures, but what can I say, I'm a little busy keeping these two out of trouble. Caden is really needing to be potty trained, but doesn't really want to learn. All he does know for sure is that he doesn't like the feel of poopy diapers and so he takes it off immediately wherever he is whatever he is doing. Even while playing at McDonald's! It has been a long few weeks with lots of frustration....I think Brian is taking it the hardest of all of us!

So enjoy the picture, and I will try to do better!

Another Sunday Hike

Again we had great morning weather so we hit the trails. We have begun to hit a groove with packing up an getting out of the house now...one of these days it will be a routine, and we all know how much I love routines!

Caden, in his typical fashion, had to explore natures great wonders at his own pace, which turned a 2.4 mile hike that should have taken about an hour into a 2.25 hr expedition. But the joy that Brian and I get from watching Caden explore and learn makes up for the slow pace. We both did much better this weekend on the same trail from last week...we reversed the order that we took it and it was much less difficult. Next week we will extend our length to 3-4 miles....I hope neither one of us have a heart attack!

So I guess I will shut up and let you enjoy the pictures!

More Hiking, The Zoo and First Bites

We had lots going on this week. We started the week with our first ex-rays... for PAX!!! I had money on the fact that Caden would be the first one, but I was wrong. Paxton was in his bumbo seat on the table and I turned my back for just a minute to get Caden more food and the next thing I know I hear a horrible crash and Pax is face down on the floor...still in the seat. So we made a mad dash to the pediatrician who sent us to get x-rays to make sure that there were no facial or skull fractures. Thank goodness he was ok, minus his first little black eye. I on the other hand was a nut case. I felt like the worst mother in the world. I think the doctor was much more worried about my mental state than Pax's physical!

Moving on through the week we started Pax on solid food, and surprise, surprise, he is a major chow-hound. He was like a little bird after the very first bite....it didn't take him any time to figure out the eating thing.

We also went to the zoo with the MomsClub. Caden was excited to see some of the larger animals, but the smaller stuff was not too interesting. His did laugh HARD at the large tortoises who were "wrestling". I guess a boys fascination with the "birds and the bees" starts early.

We ended the week by taking another hike on Paris Mtn. This trail was 2.4 miles long and nearly kicked my butt (and Brian's, although he won't admit it) in a couple of places, but we made it. I am seriously out of shape... although I am using the excuse of the extra 30lbs on my back to justify the struggle. Pax has a big boy pack now too because he was getting to long and to heavy to wear in the front carrier.

Silly Tikes and Mountain Hikes!

Can you believe that is is August already! Where does the time go? I still do not have the pro picts yet, but as soon as I do I will get them posted... but in the meantime here are a few that we took this weekend.

Caden has a gear toy that he LOVES...and everyday he figures out new and fun things to do with the gears. Today is was new improved ears!

On Sunday we went to a local state park that is about a 30 minute drive from where we are for a hike because the weather was great. It was slightly rainy and only about 78 out, perfect hiking weather. So here are a few picts from that trip.

Caden was our fearless leader...he literally ran the entire time until he was "done" and then he wouldn't move another inch!

Pax enjoyed the ride too. He was wide-eyed and looking around the entire time. He rode with both mom and dad and was a happy little man!

Pretty nice photo-op just 30 minutes away. For those of you in Texas, the thing in the background is called a waterfall...I know that you don't see many of those!

Busy Summer so Far

Well I don't have many pictures today, but I will be posting a bunch of photos taken by a friend who is a photographer very soon.... the wait is worth it. Until then just an update.

We were in Texas for three weeks in June/July, saw lots of family and the boys were spoiled-rotten. I painted 2 rent houses which was LOTS of fun, but at least that makes the whole trip a nice big tax write-off.

Now we are back and working on our backyard makeover. We have moved about 7,000 lbs of stone to put in tree rings and a short retaining wall around some soon-to-be flowerbeds in the back end of the lot where the grass won't grow. We have also made a play area that will be the home to a play-gym in the future, but now has the boys "outside toys" including the swimming pool. So after 7,000 lbs of rock and 19 shrubs, painting 2 houses, and traveling 2,600 miles all within 6 weeks, I am a bit tired, and I still have tons of projects to do. I don't think it ever ends.

Pax had his 4 month check-up and he is my little man-giant. He weighed in at a hefty 17lbs and was 26.5 inches long. This put him in the 85% for both height and weight. I had to break down and buy a new car seat because he is about to exceed height/weight restrictions of his carrier, which gives me a hernia every time I pick up anyway. He is a very active baby- he squirms and bucks himself in circles when he is laying on the floor so I have to be careful where I put him now. He rolled over both ways for the first time this Tuesday so we hit that milestone. He is growing so fast, and all I want is for him to stay my baby for a while.

Caden is as rotten as ever. He can open doors now, so there is no peace. I have to keep all of the exterior doors locked, and anything interior is game for fun. It is amazing where I find things now days- especially food because he loves to get into the pantry and relocate everything. I found cereal bars in my bathtub yesterday! So if creativity and ingenuity is a sign of intelligence, Caden must be a genius...but personally I think it might be the work of the devil. Oh well, I will enjoy these years because they go fast as everyone tells me, but I haven't figured out why that is bad!

I have joined a local MomsClub, so we are meeting new people and making new friends, and it gives Caden a chance to try to learn new social behaviors. We have gone to a swim party and to Monkey Joe's which is an inflatable bounce place. Of course Caden watches the older kids and tries to do what they are doing, which gives mommy a heart attack. Good thing we have good medical insurance, because we are going to need it.

Well it is official- Redneck is contagious. Instead of going to WalMart and buying a $10 air pump, my industrious husband rigged up his own way to air up the new pool...with a leaf blower duck taped to a vacuum hose that would fit the deflation spout. Looks proud of himself doesn't he.

From this vantage point it looks like he is inflating something other than the pool!

While in Charleston we visited a couple of zoos and Caden had a grand time. He really loved chasing the rooster around the barnyard. So much that Brian and I are contemplating raising a few chickens in the back yard- I wonder what the HOA would say about that!

Here is the rooster that Caden befriended.

He chased and chased him... amazingly he never quite caught him. Rhett does the same thing with the cat. They want to feel like a great hunter, but don't really want to deal with the consequences of catching the prey!

A Day at the Beach

While in Charleston we had the opportunity to visit the beach a couple of times. The first time Caden saw so much water he ran right out, completely clothed, totally excited. It only took 5 minutes and being knocked on his rear by a couple of good sized waves did he decide that caution and respect of the mighty sea was in order. Of course it was mommy who had to deal with the soaked and sand filled shoes and DENIM shorts.

So on the second visit he was much more cautious. But this time decked out in swimsuit and beach shoes he eventually warmed back up and ended up having a great time as long as daddy was in arms reach.

Paxton also had his first beach experience, and loved it...but that was probably because he was nursing most of the time and when he finished he got to stretch out on his back and sunbathe a bit!

A Visit With The Great Grands

We had a wonderful week-long visit from the Great Grands...aka Nanny and Papa. The boys were spoiled rotten and all I have heard the past day and 1/2 since they left is "Papa, Papa!" I think we wore them out, but hopefully they will be fully recovered by the time we make it to Lubbock in June because I can guarantee that Caden will be ready to make up for lost time with his Papa! Thanks for all of the help...you guys sure made poop patrol much easier! Can't wait for your next visit!

Lots has gone on over the past month- it is hard to believe that Paxton is 5 plus weeks old. Time sure does fly when you don't sleep. I am going to try my best to get pictures up every week or 10 days instead of waiting so long in between, but I won't make any promises. Good news is that there are lots of new cute ones on now! Things are going well, we are all getting settled in. Paxton and I went to the pediatrician this morning and he was back at birth weight finally. My mom is still here with us a few more days and then reality is going to set in. I'll be mom of 2 under 2 with NO HELP!

Caden is taking everything in stride... with the expected whining and increase in attention seeking behavior but I think that we will get through it. If nothing else we will laugh a lot because some of his antics are too funny not to. Below are a few picts of the newest Jones from the past 2 weeks.

It's a Boy- Paxton Chase Jones

Well the big day came, my water broke on Saturday evening about 6:30, and after Brian and Beci ran to Walmart and Lowes to pick up a few things we finally packed up and went to the hospital around 9, still with no contractions. So they decided to go ahead and start the induction about 10:30, and so on Sunday morning at 5:35am Paxton Chase joined us at his "birthday party". He weighed in at a hefty 8lbs 5oz, and was 20.5 inches long. Everyone was happy and healthy and we got to come home on Monday afternoon. So enjoy the pictures of the newest member of the Jones family!

Baby Update

Well, we are at the home stretch. I am technically 36 weeks yesterday, but it looks like this baby is eager to make an appearance becuase on Monday I had already dilated to a 2 and was "softening nicely" according to my doc. She said that if she wanted to induce at that moment I was a perfect candidate, which of course we are not doing since I am still so early. But it is a good indicator that this is going to happen soon. Brian's mom arrives this afternoon at 5pm and I have basically been taking it as easy as I can because we really hope to make it until she gets here. Ironically 20 minutes after we booked her flight on Monday evening to come out today, I lost my muscus plug... so we have been sweating it a bit.

We will get picts and info posted as soon as we can after the "event" so keep checking the site. I am just hoping everything is a repeat of last time- you can't beat a 1 hr 15min delivery and 4 pushes! We will see soon I guess.

Well the jury is in...I am a terrible blogger. In my defense we just got a new computer that will make the process much easier and more importantly faster so I am going to try my best to do better.

A lot has gone on in the past few months. Caden turned one, I got pregnant, my brother (technically my sister-in-law) had my beautiful niece Kendall, so I will post some picts to try to catch up the past 4 months.

We are in the process of packing for our trip to Texas. We will be arriving on Dec 18, and Brian will leave on Dec 29th, but Caden and I are staying until Jan 13. My grandfather is having open heart surgery, so I am going to stick around to help out in his care. Of course the grandmothers are just so upset about this... especially Grammy B- Brian's mom since she will be babysitting a lot while we are in the hospital with my grandad.

Pregnancy front- I am 27 weeks this week and doing great. My due date is March 17, and we are going to be surprised this time, which is killing me. I want a girl so bad it isn't funny and Brian wants another boy because raising a girl scares him to death. I think it is a boy for some reason, which might explain why I have gone completely overboard buying girl stuff for Kendall- Eric's little girl who was born on Dec 3, at a hefty 8lbs, 8oz- and that was 2 weeks early! I don't know if it is just me but a pregnancy during the holidays is just a license to eat...NOT GOOD. Oh well, I am sure I will run it off with two kids 18 months apart!

Now I guess I will get to the good stuff... pictures!

We have been taking Gymboree classes which has instilled a love of climbing on or in everything... hence the next two picts!

Our little adrenaline junkie doesn't settle for the small slide... he has to do the big one and by himself! Aren't hospital bills a tax write-off? I sure hope so because we are in for it with no fear boy.

We went up into N Carolina for our favorite drive in October and Caden had a blast playing in the leaves, and tasting the leaves, and waving the leaves!

June Picts

Caden LOVES to swim. Our neighbor has a pool that they put up for the summer, and as you can tell he is a happy water baby.

Caden finally has his first tooth...somewhat. But he is very particular about who he shows it to and I guess you are not it! The only time I have actually seen it is when he laughs really hard and I never have a camera handy.

We put together the Tonka Truck that Grammy B gave him, and he loves it. He will sit on it while we scoot him around, and he is even standing up behind it. Not taking any steps yet though.
We went hiking on Fathers Day. We bought this mega backpack carrier so that Brian could lug him around a little more comfortably, and he did great in it. We hiked a little over 4 miles and Caden was a trooper until the last 15 minutes when Brian had to carry him cradled in front because it was WAY past nap time.

Okay, so I am not the world's best blogger...I kindda got behind. But I am going to try to be better, so here are some of April and May picts.

This is his favorite toy at the office...he drives for30-45 minutes at a time!

This is the pool that Gran and Pops sent...and we tried it out in the house for a while until the weather was hot enough to put water in it.

We have a wrestling matches every night featuring the Champ Caden, Chops the lamb and Jeff the Giraffe. I guess Caden always wins!

The next few picts prove that Caden is my son.. they are all of eating. That is something that Caden loves to do, and is proud of it.

This was taken the first day we had the pool...he was not too sure about the balls. It took a while for him to decide it was a cool place to play.
Mommy is trying to show Caden that there is nothing to be scared of... too bad that image is scary in itself!

Look Out Texas Here We Come!!!

It is official, Caden and I are coming to Texas for an extended visit on March 19. We will be flying into DFW on that Thursday and driving on to Lubbock later that day or on Friday morning. We will be in Lubbock until Friday April 4th, when we will journey back to DFW for a weekend visit with family and friends there and then fly out on Monday the 7th. We want to see everyone while we are here, so give me a ring (864-567-8525) so that we can plan something! Call early because our social calendar fills fast! (Haha)

I can't wait to have some babysitters to help me out. I have been having some back issues the past few months and so I began seeing a chiropractor a couple weeks ago, and due to some of the major adjusting we are having to do, my back went out this past Tuesday. I was bending over to set Caden in his swing and it just went. Caden landed halfway in the swing and I landed halfway in a chair next to the swing. Thank goodness it was early and Brian was still home and was able to run in and get Caden situated because I could not move. Brian ended up having to run into work, grab his computer, and come back home for the day because I could not lift Caden at all. Things are getting better, and I am wearing a back brace now, but Brian has been making a lot of trips upstairs the past few days! I know that I will have plenty of time to fully recover while I am in Texas because I have a suspicion that the only time that I will get to hold my son is during the middle of the night if he gets fussy!

I'll leave you with a cute shot of some tummy time. Caden hates being flat on his belly and now that he is a pro at rolling over he won't stay on it at all, but if we prop him up on his boppy he loves looking around and playing with toys laid out in front of him. It is amazing how quickly we can see him develop... time is going too fast!

Gettin' Dirty and Gettin' Clean

It is amazing how quickly Feb. flew and now we are close to the middle of March. There is lots going on, the most exciting is that we are eating solid foods! We have now tried Rice Cereal, Apples, Bananas, Pears, Carrots and Avocado. He LOVES the fruit but we have to mix the carrots with other stuff to get it to go down, but I am confident that it will grow on him. We eat twice a day, so usually mommy takes the morning feed and daddy gets the evening feed...and the jury is back...Caden loves his daddy more!

When Brian walks into the house after work Caden breaks into the biggest smile and starts squealing... breaks moms heart of course because he is supposed to love me more! Just kidding... I love the fact that Caden values his time with his daddy, short as it is. Brian usually gets home around 5:30-6pm, and we feed him, eat our dinner, change/bath him and have him in bed by 7:30 most evenings. So their time together during the week is short, but they make the most of it.

Caden especially loves playing "Eskimo kisses" with daddy... I think it is the rough 5 o'clock shadow... I guess if I want to get the same level of belly laugh from the kid I need to run my hairy legs across his cheeks! I'll be the most loved yet! Haha... aren't you all praying that I don't scar the kid for life at this point!

We are really liking eating... in fact most of the time we can't shove it in fast enough. He loves making a mess of everything... the chair, the bib, his clothes and usually my face!

Daddy is becoming a pro at the feeding thing... Let's see how long it will take to be a pro at the cleaning thing...my guess never!
Caden has discovered Kodiak... and loves him. He will grab at his fur and whiskers for the longest time... and the crazy cat sits there and moves his head around so that Caden hits all of his sweet spots!

I am training early... after dinner we hand Caden the rag and he wipes his own face! (Really he chews on the wet cool rag, but I like to think I that I am super mom and am starting cleanliness young!)
We have discovered the rubber ducky.. now he is a bath time necessity!

Well yes I am crazy, but I got this wild hair to produce a Valentine's card to send to family and friends from Caden, and so we had the "photo shoot" on Saturday. Below are a few of the resulting picts. (Watch the mail... the card should be there soon!)

Jan Picts and updates

Yes I know that it is halfway thru Feb and I am just now getting up Jan's pictures, but time flies I guess. Caden had his 4 month shots/ check-up on Jan 25 and he was doing great. He was 25 3/4 inches long, and 15lbs and 9lbs 10 ozs, so we are a growing boy. We are wearing 6-9 month clothes, and some of them are even on the short side. It is very depressing everytime I wash clothes becuase I pack up several pieces that he has outgrown. My baby is growing so fast!

Everyday he is learning a new sound or gesture, and it is so fun to watch his little mind work while he figures things out. He is especially fasinated with our faces right now. He loves feeling them, and sticking his fingers in our mouths (I guess him sucking on them constantly is just not enough!) His giggles and squeels are a delight for Brian and I to hear, and I wake up every morning to him chatting away to himself via the monitor. I sometimes just lay there an listen and smile for 10 minutes before getting up and seeing to him becuase it is just so amazing. (Mom's are easily amused I guess!)

We sure do miss seeing everyone, but we do get to talk to the grand-parents once a week via web-cam and Caden sure does love sitting and staring at the computer screen while the grandmas and grampa talk to him.

Funny Faces and Furry Friends!

Hello! We have had another great couple of weeks. Caden is growing and learning new things everyday. It is so hard to believe that he will be 2 months old on Wednesday!! We have a doctor's visit and our first round of shots on Wednesday, so think about him (and us) then because I am sure that he will not be too impressed, and if I know our son at all, he will make us pay for it the rest of the day. He gets that from his dad! :)

First I want to start by publicly thanking Kodiak the cat for taking over the computer duties for the family. With the new addition mommy and daddy are so busy with the baby, so he has really picked up the slack for us.

Grandma Beci's Visit

Beci came down this week to visit and we had a lot of fun. Between playing with the baby, celebrating her birthday and enjoying Halloween, we had a lot of picts to share from her trip. Beci we really enjoyed having you and can't wait for you to come back!

Brian and Beci are enjoying her birthday mining for gems... can't you tell they think they are going to hit the mother load!

Our evening activity was carving pumpkins- we had one for all of us, including a small one for Caden!

I am so proud- my first major acomplishment as a mother since delivery- I made Caden's mustard costume completely from scratch!!! No pattern!!!

Caden was not as impressed with my work as I was!

A Weekend of Firsts!

What a weekend! Grandpa came in on Thursday night, and that was the start of a busy weekend filled with firsts. We went into downtown Greenville to our beautiful park and took our first stroll along the river. Then grandma and grandpa baby-sat so that mom and dad could go to dinner and a movie for moms birthday. (That was a bit tough- I held my phone the entire movie!) Then on Sunday we drove to North Carolina and went hiking at Chimney Rock State Park. When we got home, Caden got his first tub bath. Whooo... lots going on.

Monday was a little sad because grandma and grandpa went home, and now the true test and taste of parenthood begins. And it began with a bang- he cried beginning at 1:30, after we dropped them off at the airport and is still having "episodes" now at 8:30 pm.. Talk about REALITY! Mom you were wonderful- and we miss all of your help already!

Hello from Greenville. Well, we have officially made it two weeks! And I haven't killed Brian or mom, so I am considering everything a success.

We have had a few ups and downs, but we are working through everything. Caden was tongue tied, and it was affecting his ability to nurse and could have potentially led to speech problems in the future, so we had to have his tongue clipped on Monday of last week. I think the procedure hurt Brian and I more than it hurt him. On Tuesday we went back to the pediatrician, and had a weigh-in and we were back at birth weight, so that was great. Caden likes his mama's milk!

Grandpa arrived on Thursday, so it is going to be a weekend of spoiling, I am sure.

Sorry that it has taken so long to get new picts up, but we have been a bit busy around here trying to figure out this mommy and daddy gig. It is so hard to believe that Caden has been here for almost a week. It has been an interesting learning curve, complete with backwards diapers, blow-outs, mid-night baths and "yellow showers" ... and that was just for daddy! Haha!

Well he is finally here! Mr Caden Reed Jones was born at 11:17 pm (EST), on September 21, 2007. He was 6 lbs 9 ozs, and 19 1/4 inches long. It was a very short labor- only about 1 hour 15 minues with hard contractions and he was here. Word to anyone considering birth options- get the epidural BEFORE the Pitocin, because you might not have time to after it is started! Enjoy the pictures, and check back soon for many more!

Nursery Phase II

Well, I guess we are finally close to being finished with the nursery. After a weekend of assembling the crib, crafts projects and painting projects, we are almost there. All we are missing is the rocking chair, a few accessories and pictures actually in the picture frames, and we will call it done.

Mom, it looks like Bambi is good to go for another generation...Brian and I are pretty proud of our crafty lampshade.

The Nursery Phase 1

Well, we began work on the nursery this weekend. What was supposed to be touch-up paint and a few accents turned into completely re-rolling the ceiling, all of the walls, and creating a contemporary mural of sorts. I guess if you are going to take the time to do, do it right. In addition, this morning I am having all of the carpets and air ducts cleaned. Do you think that this is that nesting thing of the third trimester I have heard so much about?

Brian was really proud of the man-made compass he devised to draw perfectly round circles, too bad our tracing skills weren't too great. Some of our circles look more like eggs.

Oh well, it looks cute anyway. Hopefully all of our furniture will arrive this week so that we can get it all together and finish things up next weekend. Enjoy the picts of phase 1 and watch for phase 2 in the next couple of weeks!

Brian's Baby 101

We went to Phoenix last week to see some of our good friends who just had their baby, Noah, back in mid- June. Brian took the opportunity to use the experience as Baby 101- feeding and diaper changes. He fed his first bottle and changed his first poopy diaper, all in the same weekend. I was so proud. And what is even more surprising is that Noah didn't seem to mind a novice practicing on him. I think those two guys were the best of buds by the end of the weekend. The Baby Shower

Thanks to everyone who was at the baby shower in body or in spirit... we had a ton of fun. Amber's home was dolled up as cute as can be. The shower decorations were terrific.... I think that I might just have been replaces as party planner extraordinaire in the family, because Amber sure did deliver. Not only did Brian and I get tons of wonderful baby stuff to stock the nursery with, every one had a great time. Some of the special guests included Graham Stanford, Kenedy Chauvette, and Dane Armes, all members of the next generation. I know that Caden is excite to join their ranks! Enjoy the pictures!

28 Week Ultrasound

Here is an updated picture of the baby... this was taken at 28 weeks. He is still healthy and growing, he was about 14 inches long and weighed 2lbs, 9ozs, so all is well. We have another ultra sound scheduled at 32 weeks, which will be the 2nd week of August, so we will hopefully have another picture then.

Chris visits SC

My brother, Chris Jones, was able to make a quick visit to the Greenville area. We went downtown during the Downtown Alive summer festival and saw the Reedy River bridge and some of the many fountains in the area.

In addition we were able to hit one of the many mountain trails around the area, specifically Table Rock. We were able to get about 3/4ths of the way up, but had to turn around due to time. Overall I think he enjoyed the visit.

Now that things have greened up a little with the most recent rain, I thought I would post a couple of pics of the house and landscaping that we have worked so hard on.

This first couple of pics are from the street. The big trees in the front were from the previous owner as well as most of the hedges in front of the house. Most of our work has been in the back yard. We really like the black mulch as it provides more of a contrast to the colors.

Here is view from the back porch. The smaller trees in the yard are some of the 14 we planted last year. The back yard used to have the same big trees as are outside the fence, but the previous owner wanted a big yard so he cut them down. Coming from West Texas, I cant get enough trees.

Well, Here are some new pictures of baby Jones!

We had our ultra-sound this morning and everything looked great.

There were fingers, toes, legs, arms, a head, and a great heart beat, all of which we were very thankfull for. Baby weighed 10 oz and is on track growth-wise, and all organs/ systems look good right now. Which of certianly made me excited.

I think that the most exciting thing for Brian was the "little boy parts" that were front and center! It looks like we will be adding a little boy to the Jones clan... so start praying for me now! And any advise is aprreciated!!! Enjoy the pictures.

Hello from South Carolina! Stephanie convinced me that having a blog site is the way to go with keeping everyone up on the Jones' "Baby Story". So, here we are.

There is not too much going on right now, I am feeling great most of the time now that I am well into the second trimester. According to Brian, my hormonal mood swings are killing him, but I think that he just wants a reason to whine.

We went to the doc a couple of weeks ago and Brian had to have some blood drawn for a test, and you would have thought that he had just endured the most excruciating procedure known to man, the big baby. Good thing that I am the one who will be giving birth!

We have an ultra-sound coming up on Tues, May 8th, and we should find out gender at that point, so we will post those pictures and news next week. Till then, take care!
